200, GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/R.6.1.37. We have received your first daily report and also a wire which reads as follows:- "ROBOTHAM RECEIVED MESSAGE BIGEND FAILED PARTICULARS WILL FOLLOW - HANCOCK." We are not at all clear as to what this refers, particularly as we cannot recollect having sent you a message. However, you will doubtless let us have further particulars in due course. We should like to know whether the raised front engine mounting makes the front end of the car any steadier than on the previous 10,000 miles test when Terraplane rubbers were fitted. You will remember that front end movement was one reason why we turned down the Terraplane engine mounting on the Bentley. Will you tell Behnan that the correct reference for Chateauroux memos is Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} followed by the initials of the tester concerned. We shall be glad to have your general views on the bearing situation in France, and to know whether matters are really as alarming as Allen indicates in his last memo.
