To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ORIGINAL Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}ll/KT.6.2.31. X.35 SHOCK ABSORBERS. We are rather concerned by the fact that the new design of shock absorbers is tied up with a hand control from the dashboard. As this is quite a new and original feature it is probable that it will take considerable time to get right. As you are aware, we have already written R.{Sir Henry Royce} recommending that we fit certain 'Delco' features to our present shock absorbers. We attach herewith a suggestion for modifications to our present shock absorber which means new castings, but WHC. considers we should reduce the cost of shock absorbers 50 - 60% if we adopt it. We are sending these suggestions to you so that if R.{Sir Henry Royce} agrees to using some of the 'Delco' schemes we might go further and re-design the rest of the shock absorber.
