Messrs. Howard Graham Ltd. -3- 26th. July, 19__ (5) Amount of side twist. This will have a maximum value of 6° between the axle and the frame. The amount of twist taken in the bushes will depend on their rigidity. (6) Maximum allowable resistance to twist. This is not important so long as it remains substantially constant throughout the life of the bearing. (7) Maximum allowable deflection. Radial deflection - this is not important but should be reasonably small. Axial deflection - the axial rigidity should not be less than 20,000 lbs/in. and it is desirable that this figure should be as high as possible. As the spring is not lubricated it will not be necessary to make any provision for the pipes shown in FCD.1306. We hope that the above information will be all that you require, and if you are in any difficulty with the restrictions imposed we should be pleased to give you any further information or to see if we can in any way give more latitude if you would give us details. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
