2/ Choice of aerials There are three types of aerials now in common use + are 1. Under chassis type. 2. Roof type. 3. Side Telescopic type. Of these the under chassis type is fast dying out on account of the low design of the car chassis + therefore their susceptibility to damage, thus really only remains the roof + s. Telescopic types, the main advantages of these two types of aerials may be summarised as follows 1. less tendency to pick up engine interference 2. less liable to damage Against this we have 1. Screening effect caused by metal work of the car 2. Unsightly By compromising with the above a quite effective roof or telescopic aerial may be obtained. Whenever possible the fitting of an underslung chassis type is advisable on account of the greater signal strength obtained with it, however it will definitely pick up more engine interference + therefore the other types are advisable we will however give details of how one may be fitted. | ||
