Telephone: HEAton Moor 3107 Registered Office: 24 STANLEY ROAD, HEATON MOOR, STOCKPORT, Cheshire. Your Ref. Our Ref. AT/BH 27th June, 1941. Rolls Royce, Ltd., Clan Foundry, Belper, Nr. Derby. Handwritten Note 1: Mrs Taylor Handwritten Note 2: Reply & say not interested under present conditions Dear Sir, For attention of Mr. Robotham. We take the liberty of bringing to your attention a product recently developed in U.S.A. This is an oil pump gear made from iron powder by molding under pressure and sintering. The advantages claimed for this gear, in addition to great accuracy of tooth form, are that finishing operations are very considerably reduced. Tooth surfaces do not need touching, the only operations necessary being, burnish broaching the inside diameter, grinding the outside diameter, machining the end length and chamfering the teeth, only a few thousandths being removed in each case. The approximate cost of a small gear measuring 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/2" outside diameter is 6d, plus an initial outlay of £500 for the press tools necessary. If this proposition is of any interest to you we shall be pleased to forward a sample gear for your inspection. Yours faithfully, Electronic Engineering Services, Ltd. Robert A.{Mr Adams} Taylor. | ||
