Early 20 HP. and Ph.I. - These can be cured by fitting cotton duck washers in place of bakelite. Ph.II. - Latest type low inertia drive with "window" type pressure plate cure this trouble. See Depot Sheets Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}190 and Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}227. 20/25 HP. Synchromesh Cars. - Cam Balancing device now standardised on new cars, and design for existing cars is available to overcome gear rattles.

New type valve springs with semi-open ends and circular grinding are now being used and are a definite improvement. The 20/25 HP. failures are believed to be due to a batch of faulty material.
