X4292 RE QUAIN "SILECTRON" CIGAR LIGHTER.

I send you herewith papers with reference to the above cigar lighter. This is being put on the market by Messrs. Smith (Motor Accessories) for the inventor Mr. J.R. Quain.

I have seen one of these instruments and I think that as cigar lighters go this should be quite fairly good. The heating element is subdivided into three parts, each of which is placed in one little Silica tube, so that the access of air to the heated wire is limited, oxidisation reduced to a minimum and life of wire increased. A disadvantage is that owing to the larger heating capacity it takes slightly more time to heat up than a lighter of the more ordinary kind, but a time which we think is not too long to be objected to.

We shall be interested to know if you have occasion to do anything with this.
