K.L.G. 850 sparking plugs.

Dear Major Carington,

We have had a very elusive failure of 850 type plugs on a customers' car recently.

The plugs had been used for a few hundred miles on ordinary petrol and then ran for 400 miles on Leaded fuel, after which they misfired very badly. The car had been used in London during that period mostly "pottering" about.

We dismantled the plugs and with the exception of a slight slate grey deposit on the insulator, they were in good condition. Tested electrically they showed no signs of leakage.

After cleaning the plugs they were again tried and functioned perfectly.

Can you give us any clue to the cause of misifiring as we are much disturbed by the failure on a plug which we had hoped was going to be 100%.

Yours sincerely,
