| TELEPHONE NOs 2224 MOSS 2225 SIDE 2226 2227 TELEGRAMS: ARNOLD, SEMEAD. ST GEORGE'S HALL, HULME, MANCHESTER, 15. RECEIVED 4 DEC 1936 December 3rd 1936 The Works Manager, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sir, Phantom lll Have you had any complaints about the heat experienced by users of the above car, occupying the front seats? I have heard certain observations which I feel will be of interest to you, namely, that the footboards of the front seat get very hot, and that in Summer weather it is considered this will be a very serious defect. I do not pose as an automobile Engineer, but one cannot spend 37 years driving cars without forming some opinion, and I am wondering whether two Silencers instead of one would help to keep the engine cooler, and whether some form of baffle-plate, between the engine and the dash, could be arranged to deflect the heat to ventilators fitted in the sides of the engine bonnet. It is the opinion of others that the Phantom lll is a delightful car to drive, but it seems a pity, under such circumstances, to miss an opportunity of improvement which would add materially to the comfort of the owner driver.
