G.W.Hancock from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. X5840 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/AD30.11.31. Many thanks for yours of the 27th inst. We note what you say about the front axle. We should, however, like you to run without these filters and see what happens. We quite agree that the condition of 19-GIV might be due to the fact that whilst it was in the hands of Sales the Bijur pump may not have been operating. Bijur Lubrication. We note what you say about the system. We think we shall have to try and fit up the copper pipes here with the un-soldered unions and then submit the job to W.W. Low Rating Road Springs. Everyone agrees that we want adjustable hydraulics. We ourselves are rigging up electrically operated dempers in order to encourage W.W. to produce some scheme for us. It is very depressing that we cannot do anything in view of the fact that Delcos have been running such a scheme for 6 months. Crankshaft Period. We note that you have succeeded in running up the crankshaft period. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} takes the view that we cannot do anything until we have had a look at the bearings. If the bearings are in a perfect condition then we shall have more balance weights than we need as we shall be considering standardising lighter ones. If the bearings are bad, however, we shall have no alternative but to put those you are at present using into production. We should like you to continue driving the car as fast as it can go when you get a favourable chance so that you can record the xx number of times you get the critical period. Exhaust System. We are glad to hear that the exhaust system is not failing. We should like you very carefully to record its undesirable features such as booms and tinniness so that you will have a record before you change over to the new system which we are sending out. Clutch. Do not forget to let us have some information on clutch springs as soon as you can. | ||
