R.R. 235A (100 T) (S.H. 159 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} R7/M21.12.25. Copy to ~~OJ.~~ ~~BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}~~ re. LUGGAGE CARRIER. X8400 We are sorry to hear that the luggage carrier broke on the 10,000 miles trial, as it would seem that it is equal in strength to those which have been running about satisfactorily. At the same time DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} is arranging to send an improved design which we think will overcome the trouble owing to its superior strength, will cost less, and probably weigh no more. It consists of complete drop forging for each of the ends, and should this drop forging come out heavy, there are means of grinding or machining away any abnormal weight in the forging. It is thought that it can be put together by sweating and pinning, and so not damage the tubes by brazing. R.{Sir Henry Royce} (Stamp: RECEIVED ?? DEC 1925 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) | ||
