E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} B3. Ao Please return Seen E 8/8/32 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Seen By X 7941 RECEIVED 9 AUG 1932 Hotel de France, Chateauroux, FRANCE. 22.7.32. 19-BX/ We have today received the 4 Cotton Duck Washers for the Inertia Damper. These will be put in stock, as we have already fitted a pair to the damper. The damper is at the moment keeping the half crankshaft period down, and has remained consistent. The engine gear rattles are somewhat pronounced, but are passable. We have got a light knock in the front which appears to come from the petrol pump. We believe it is the wear on the small connecting rod pin at the bottom. This did not look a good job when we examined it at Derby, but it was decided to leave it for this test. G.W.H. [Handwritten note] G.W.H. has had to revert to the cotton duck as being the only material so far tried that will give consistent results. Please note remarks re petrol pump. I assume GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} fits the modified poppet pin. E 8/8/32 | ||
