Contd. -3- Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LG17.9.21. ----------- of the thrust washers taken from an axle fitted with the single thrust in which there has been very considerable wear on the face of the thrust washer which takes the reverse load. The success of the plain thrust scheme depends entirely on maintaining an efficient oil film. This is the point which one does not feel happy about because frequently the lubrication of the axle is neglected or very thick oil is used which becomes frozen in Winter.
