MODIFIED SPRING TO PREVENT SLOW SPEED WOBBLES. We have at hand a copy of some of the remarks on memo' Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KT.17.7.33, on which Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} gives us the figures he desires for a Spring to prevent slow speed wobbles. We have altered however the figure given for the Mean Dia: of the Spring, from .728 to .718, which gives the original outside Dia: of the Spring, where as if we work to .728, we find the clearance between the Spring and the Side Steering Tube is negligible, and the Tube is too thin to be opened out. All other figures have been kept the same, and we find that the maximum corrected stress is 111,624 lbs/sq.in. for .728 Dia: and 110,486 lbs/sq.in. for .718 Dia: We attach herewith three Blue Prints of each of the following.- FB.604 Spring for Side Steering Tube(Rear). 1 off, replacing F100162 FB.605 Ball Pad(SHORT). 1 " " F100161 FB.606 " " (LONG). 1 " " F100416 FB.607 Outer Guide. 1 " " F100417 FB.608 Spring Guide. 1 " " F100154 Kindly produce and fit to Expl:Chassis.
