X.3500 - RE "DELAGE" CAR

We are sending Hancock with this car to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town on Monday. He should arrive there about 6 o'clock.

The later tests we have taken on this car we have been able to obtain 20 miles to the gallon when running about 30 M.P.H. on good roads. This is the best consumption we can get. "We have tried it with a single small R.R. carburetter which we borrowed off the 2-cylinder car. The results were not quite as good. There is also not sufficient room to fit this carburetter properly so we have put the "Claudel" back again.

We made tests with various clearances in the tappets to see whether the poor consumption was due to the overlap but we could find no difference in M.P.G. whether we had overlap or not.

As a car the "Delage" is not in the samestreet as the "Buick".

We should recommend that as soon as Mr. Royce has finished with the Delage we should get rid of it and let him have the Buick.
