Re: Worm Gears

first considered adapting a worm drive a standard & in the result they adapted a 60° angle tooth 30° obliquity.

I am also aware that messrs D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Brown & Sons (worm experts) when consulted now recommend a larger obliquity than shown in their tables.

The smallest obliquity to be used is a function of the diameter of worm & its lead but there is no advantage to be gained by using this shape & it is well to be on safe side & be sure of getting no interferences by using from 45° to 60° for any diameter of worm, I consider 45° to be about a right obliquity (22 1/2°).
