To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} X.8050 HONED CYLINDERS FOR KAK PHANTOM. X.8050 We have run a set of honed cyls. for 1000 miles on a Phantom car - they are perfectly satisfactory. We see no reason why these cylinders should not be used as standard on production. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has pointed out that on the latest Phantom engines they have the appearance of having less oil on the cyls. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has arranged that a dozen engines will be built up with honed cyls. of the latest type using standard shaped rings in place of the 'L' shaped rings for scraping oil. If we can get away from the 'L' rings it would be a definite saving. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
