Battersea,
London, S.W.11.

Dear Sirs,

Graphite Blocks.

We are wanting to obtain 4 pieces of Graphite the shape of the enclosed print, only undrilled. Graphite is used in brake linings and we wish to take certain measurements concerning its friction characteristics. The graphite block should be as pure as possible, i.e. the minimum of clay bonding should be employed.

Can you supply 4 such pieces? If not, should you be able to supply the paste we could probably mould it to our shoe, if you gave us the drying instructions.

Another material we should like to obtain in this shape is carbon. We believe you make carbon thrust blocks and therefore might be able to supply 4 pieces to the same drawing.

We shall be interested to hear if you can supply, and what the price would be.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
