To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from G.W.H. c.c. to EFC. x7620 filing GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/MJ.17.8.29. x7620. "S.S." STARTER MOTOR. --------------------- We have fitted a leather cup washer to By's suggestion to the starter motor on 21-EX and it appears to be quite satisfactory in wiping out the bearing as the pinion is brought forward. We have made our 100 starts without any failure. In fitting this leather cup washer, the cushioning effect of the pinion is dispensed with, the pinion being held firmly in position. Therefore, the setting of the pinion will have to be fixed by fitting washers between the end of the armature and the leather washer. We give a sketch showing the arrangement as fitted. G.W.H. | ||
