BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3806 DAL/MS.11.28. CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION. X.3806 FRONT AXLE. X.7420 With reference to Mr. Royce's proposal to provide an air vessel on the axle to allow a reserve of oil to be stored up, we suggest that this could be done in the pivot pins, and send herewith N.sch. 2756. shewing such an arrangement with the pin drilled out from the top, and stopped by a plug riveted and sweated into the top. XXXXX There is another proposal that it should be drilled from the bottom, and the present metering die, provided by an inserted plug, the possible advantage of this being that tightness of the plug is not so important. Derby will perhaps choose which they prefer. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
