4462 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}14/KW. 7th December, 1934. The Earl of Rothes, The India Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd., Mileage Dept. (Area "B"), 8C Clapham Road, London, S.W.9. Dear Rothes, Thank you for your letter of the 6th. In considering these large diameter tyres it looks as if we may have to use a bigger rim, because otherwise the section of the tyre goes up so much that we have insufficient clearance round the wheel arches. If you will let me have particulars of the 6 x 19 cover and the 6 x 18, I will have it laid out on the drawing board before you arrive, and we can go into the question of clearances. As far as I know at present either December 13th or 14th would suit me. I am surprised that we can raise the car as much as .89" by fitting a 6 x 19 tyre, as I do not know of another cover this size which is as much as 1.8" larger diameter than the 5 1/4 x 18. You have not by any chance got the radius and diameter transposed ? I shall be glad if you would lunch with me when you do come up here, as I should like to show you my court. Yours sincerely, | ||
