Standard parallel arrangement. (Main switch 1.3
(Actuator Box. 2.6
Total. 3.9

Proposed parallel arrangement. (Main switch 1.3
(Actuator Box, 6.2
Total. 7.5

The comparative turns and ampere turns of the actuator box are as follows:-

Amps. Turns. A.T.
Standard. 2.6 x 1200 = 3120
Proposed. 6.2 x 800 = 4960

The maximum load applied to the end of the arm of the actuator box to cause the lever to remain against the stop when put, is 2 lbs. 10 ozs. in the standerd case, and 5 lbs. 13 ozs in the priposed case, the coils being cool and the stop being such that the possible travel of the end of the arm is .200".
If these figures be compared with the comparative ampere turn figures, it will be seen that we are in the standard arrangement nowhere near taking full advantage of the flux carrying capacity of the magnetic circuit. The increased current taken to operate the system we look upon as an insignificant detail.
We, therefore, recommend the standardisation of this winding for the actuator box and that this should be brought in as soon as possible.
