-2- April 7th. 1921. eventually on the components and details of those components. When these designs were agreed upon we should produce the working drawings and manufacture. As far as we are concerned it is only natural that we should require some security in the way of a sufficient number to manufacture, or else a period of time over which we should manufacture your requirements. We feel that in putting forward this suggestion the following points would be to your advantage:- (1) Your special requirements catered for by the blending of our experience in manufacture and design and your knowledge of the conditions to be met. (2) You would also be relieved of the financial burden associated with manufacture, which for the comparatively small quantity, would be in our opinion comparatively heavy. (We understand it will be your policy with this car to consider very seriously the cost of manufacture without detracting from the high quality always associated with your make). (3) Our experience and constant touch with you during the last two years particularly fits us to take up this position. We shall be glad if youwill give this matter your careful consideration and advise us in due course the result of your decision. X.4060 As regards the 40.50 h.p. Car. We have realised that you desire to obtain a much lower cutting in speed of the Dynamo and with the object of obtaining this improvement we have been experimenting with three Machines No.C.575, having concentric shafts and four poles but the same outside dimensions as R.575. X.4352 Unfortunately we have been unable after repeated efforts to obtain silent running of these Machines and in view of the urgency of the matter we have put in hand an R.575 Machine having an Armature core 1" longer increasing in effect the length of the whole machine by one inch. We hope to give you a favourable report on this machine shortly. Yours faithfully, THE LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO. LTD. (Sgd) C.L.Breeden. Director. | ||
