EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 5/T4.4.24.

X.4383. 20 HP. DYNAMO COMMUTATOR.
X.4610. 20 HP. DYNAMO COMMUTATOR - WITH 57 SEGMENTS.

We have requested you in our EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T25.3.24 to supply another commutator of the standard number of segments but made from annealed copper.
It has also been decided and you have been instructed by EY/RDS/ML31.3.24 to produce commutators (These should be two in number) made of annealed copper with the 57 segments.
The reason for this is that both modifications independently have shown some promise of improvement, and it is thought that the two together may effect some considerable improvement in commutation.
When you have these commutators ready, we can allot machines to which they may be fitted. In particular we hand you herewith dynamo R3 which will be a suitable machine to which to fit the annealed copper commutator with the standard number of segments. The commutator at present on this machine is one which has not been undercut by the approved method.
