X6036 RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.10/MA.4. 2. 32. DELCO-REMY VACUUM AUTOMATIC ADVANCE. You will remember a short time ago that we got you interested in the above. We suggested at the time and in a report to R.{Sir Henry Royce} that a system of ignition advance dependent on carburetter and induction pipe pressure conditions combined with a speed centrifugal advance mechanism should prove ideal and allow us to dispense with any hand control on the steering column. We now notice in a report in the SAE journal for Jan. 1932 that the Americans are adopting this scheme and we should be glad if you would kindly investigate the merits or otherwise of the scheme first hand.
