X.4254. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} & HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BJ. PN.{Mr Northey} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} R2/M1.9.24. 20 HP. UNIVERSAL JOINTS. X.4254. Assume we use oil and cannot use grease because it does not replace itself on the bearings. If grease was used would it give as much trouble. On LeC.1920., we shew :- (1) A way of destroying possible vacuum at front and rear, and also prevent pump affecting pressure in front joint. (2) A suggestion to prevent overfilling. (3) A non-revolving guard so that rear joint cannot throw oil on the body. No one does as much as this, yet we hear of owners wishing to sell, and buy some other make. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
