S/W. E.P. c. to BJ. PN{Mr Northey}5/EMT/21.8.23. Re. Mr. F.E. Sydney's 40/50 H.P. Car. Engine Overheating. Replying to your CPH/16/23, we do not seem to be getting ahead very fast in finding a practical remedy for this trouble. You state that we are anxious not to increase our radiation service for fear of keeping the engine too cool in Winter, but surely the consideration of a larger area radiator could only be made in combination with a system of radiator shutters operated either by hand or automatically. It seems to me that our normal speed of fan on the standard car should be highest speed which that fan could function satisfactorily with when the car is touring fast, i.e. without producing any noises or fuss.
