I note your remarks on above axle but would like to make the following points clear.

The torque tube at its rear end where it bolts on to the axle box is actually larger in this axle than on the standard, due to the fact that (see G.1812 sent previously) the pro-peller shaft is larger in diameter, the pinion is proportionately larger where it carries the ball race and this ball race is - although of the light type as against a medium in standard - actually larger on its outside diameter. This necessitates a larger neck to axle box and therefore a larger torque tube where same bolts on to box.

The torque tube however, rapidly tapers down and was designed originally to be of same strength as the present
