The road speed on the above car at the maximum engine r.p.m. of 4,500 comes out at

Top gear - 115 m.p.h.
3rd. " - 92 m.p.h.
2nd " - 67 m.p.h.

We shall be air mailing as soon as possible (next day or so) a main oil pipe complete with a N & Z thermometer we should like returned when you have finished with same as the latter are in constant demand and valuable.

Regarding the failure of the Whitemetal big ends on the above car like you, we consider that where it is necessary to fit new big ends or main bearings we should keep in line with the latest development of 4 1/4 litre bearings and lubrication, however we are going to put this treatise to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and some ruling will be obtained for this job and circulated if passed to the depots.
