-3- RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}1/AP.19.5.37 (4) That the joints should be reset to a load of 3½ lbs. after the Test Dept. have completed all their mileage on the chassis. The material now used for the pads is remark able for the very small amount by which it wears. after 10,000 miles the extent of the bedding may cover only one quarter of the available area. We intend to try experimentally some pads of softer materials, drawn phosphor bronze and brass, in the hope that they will become run in more rapidly.
