X. 2170 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E1/M23. 8. 26. RE. PIPE UNIONS IN ALUMINIUM CASTINGS X. 2170 Referring to your recent note in connection with pegging unions in alum. castings, kindly note Mr. Royce agrees that these pegs should be left out. In cases where we lock the union nut with a plate washer attachment the union itself will be locked by the fact that the union nut cannot turn, and as this practice of locking unions is becoming increasingly adopted, one of the reasons for using the peg will have disappeared.
