Contd. -2- XB398 EFCL/T11.10.24. (Extract) Exide 6BXE5/5FL. X4611 As an experiment on the possible prolongation of the life of the plates of this battery, we got the Exide Co. to make up three batteries precisely similar to the standard 6BXE5 with the one exception that the plate grids are made exaggeratedly more robust, (resulting in a reduced active surface). These were received on 20.3.24. They are at present located as follows :- One is in our 40/50 battery bench life test. The other two are in service in the Test Dept. So far all three batteries are giving satisfactory results. The weight of this battery is 88 lbs. P & R BHT.11. Battery (Standard until recently). X3398 This refers to the P & R battery of type suitable for bolting direct to the footboard, standardised by sheet dated 15.9.22. Generally speaking, the few batteries of this type which have been used have given satisfactory results in spite of the fact that they would not have had the latest harder type paste referred to in our recent report EFCZ/T22.9.24 on the 20 HP. size batteries. Cases of premature failure of cells of this battery have been rare. The weight of the P & R BHT.11 battery, complete with parts for fixing, is 98 lbs. Contd. | ||
