Design and layout of an electrical starter switch for the 40/50 HP American Chassis.

X. 4431 We send you herewith drawing No. LeC.1174 shewing the above. The motoring and main swithces have been arranged as you will see, side by side on a comman base, and pivot operated by cams on a shaft which is made to move through a large angle. The mechanism is made double acting so that if switches fail to come off by their own spring pressure, the cams will perform this operation. LeC.1174 actually shews the main switch nearer to the centre line of the chassis than the motoring switch. Wquld you kindly have this changed round during the detailing operations, so that the main contact arm is nearer the outside of the chassis. The idea is to make the more important part of the mechanism as accessible as possible for adjustment.
