Rolls Royce Ltd, Nightingale Road, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. Hives. Re. Tyres on Experimental Car. Dear Sir, We acknowledge receipt of your favours of the 22nd and 23rd inst., addressed for the attention of the undersigned, and are much obliged for the information you give us regarding the direction of rotation, which is of some interest and will be duly considered. We have some further tyres under preparation and will ask you to be good enough to send the car when the modified tyres are ready during the course of the next few days. In the meantime you may rest assured that it is our intention to give you a tyre which will be as noiseless as any tyre can possibly be consistent with sufficient non-skidding properties. You are aware of course that the two points of noiselessness and non-skidding are somewhat opposed, in that maximum efficiency in the one can only be secured with something considerably less than maximum efficiency in the other. Yours faithfully, THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO LTD W Bond For DEVELOPMENT SUPT. | ||
