Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

Dear Sirs,

On a piece of experimental apparatus we wish to provide a clutch capable of dealing with 8275 lbs/ins. torque and the clutch will be used under conditions very similar to those which exist on a heavy lorry.

We would be very glad if you would send us a drawing of a suitable clutch if you have one in existance on production.

We would also be glad if you would tell us whether if we were to use sintered-bronze for the clutch plate linings we can use a smaller diameter clutch and an increased unit pressure.

We would like to adopt this policy in order to reduce the size of the clutch and equally to make the inertia of the clutch plate as small as possible.

We must add that the maximum speed of the clutch is 4000 r.p.m.

Yours faithfully,

H.I.F.Evernden,

for Rolls-Royce Ltd.
