Recommendation to use Shell Aviation Spirit B with an addition of 12.5% benzol for Atlantic Flights to reduce the risk of pre-ignition.

-3- percentage of benzol is added. In the Atlantic Flights we must take advantage of all we know of which will reduce the risk of failure due to pre-ignition. I dare say if we had used nothing else but Shell Aviation B we may never have considered using benzol, but considering our experiences of war spirit and the troubles which we have had on the engines due to this, we do not feel justified in abandoning the use of benzol. We therefore recommend that for the Atlantic Flights Shell Aviation Spirit B with the addition of 12½% benzol should be used. EH. | ||
