To E.P. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} C. to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} B.L. D.L. x4117 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG9.6.26. 117-MC CAR. 18410 With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}6/H8.6.26. We entirely agree with this note as to the nature of Mr. Summers complaint. We are also of the opinion that the front suspension of this car is as good as that of the trials car 7-LC on which we made the journey to Chester. We do not consider that any alteration to the springs at present fitted to the car is likely, materially, to affect the trouble. With reference to the spare wheel carrier at the back of the car. Whilst there is a design in process of evolution of a spare wheel carrier to be fitted on the rear of the 40/50 HP., it is still doubtful whether this will be approved by R.{Sir Henry Royce} for fitting to a customers car owing to the strain thereby imposed on the end of the canti-lever frame. In any case it will be a considerable time before this item is tried out. Such an alteration will not improve the drivers comfort to any extent. We believe Mr. Summers has a car which is as good as the majority of our cars when looked at from the point of view of comfort in the drivers seat, and we do not believe there is any ground for allowing him to suppose that we can alter his car appreciably.
