Dear Mr. Brown,

Since returning to England I have discussed your X-Alloy with our Engineers.

Their chief interest lies in a metal of this hardness, but having the expansion of an austenitic steel. I think you told me that the alloy in its present form had the expansion of ordinary cast-iron.

Will you let me know whether you could make us some high expansion cylinder liners, in which case we would send the drawings to you.

Meanwhile we should very much like to try some shock damper lever bushes in which the coefficient of expansion is of no importance. Could you send us a dozen each of the attached F.100879 and F.85059.
