Now that we have no bonnet fitted by ourselves, it will be necessary for you to take special precautions, to see that the scuttle height is accurate relative to the level top of frame to within ± .062. With the old cast dash and bonnet it was not possible to mount the body high in front to clear fouls. Since the slope of the bonnet top hinge is so small, actually 1.250 in 43.200, a small error is very apparent.

You will no doubt wish to check over your jigs for all types of chassis, and pay special attention to the mounting of the bodies which you have still in hand.

We will instruct our Works to see that on the chassis the bonnet eye in every case is accurate in height to within ± .030 and the radiator also, so that you could devise a jig which would register on the radiator bonnet eye and the dash bonnet eye, to give you the height of the scuttle.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
