To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} (Chateauroux) from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} [Handwritten: 300a] 32-EX. GEARBOX ENGINE STAY With reference to your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}4/JAB.4.8.37., we do not doubt that the rear end of the stay has come loose, but if this is due to the tube and front lock nut turning as one then it will not serve any purpose fitting a lock nut at the rear end also. We suggest that having done the rear eye up tight you mark this and the tube and tell us whether any relative rotation takes place or whether slack developes which can only be removed by tightening up the rear eye further than was originally possible.
