Sidgreaves - MD}5/E5938 Referring to ROY.{Sir Henry Royce}1/B.30.8.38 and former memos. from you and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, I discussed this with C. and arranged with him to write to Mr.Shankland, saying that he had discussed the matter with me, that we were desirous of adhering to the policy of having RR cars fitted with Dunlop tyres but that their latest quotation, when compared with the India Tyre Company's prices, looked as if it would not be possible for us to adhere to this policy. We gave him the figures. He has agreed in a letter received to-day to reduce their prices so that they come into line. In his letter he mentions that, when continuing his negotiations on wheel and hub prices with you, he will submit the amended proposals to you so please do not write him for the moment but let me know when it is confirmed. We also took the opportunity of telling him that by reason of the large disparity in the price of wheels between his Company and another, they had lost this business. Sg.{Arthur F.
