To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EY. c. to CWB. X8430 Hsl/LG27.3.26. 40/50 HP. STEERING. X8430 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}9/H26.3.26. Referring to the suggested bracket for stiffening the steering support. We think it is quite wrong to be making arrangements for cars to have these brackets fitted. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s suggestion was simply an experiment. We have temporarily tried a bracket and although there is an improvement, the mounting can still be criticised for lack of rigidity. We anticipate in about a weeks time to be able to report what the degree of improvement is. If we can provide proof that it is an improvement, then we propose sending round a standardisation sheet. This bracket is such an obvious thing on the car that it would raise comment. We have heard from Rn.{Mr Robinson} at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence that R.{Sir Henry Royce} has condemned the scheme on the 20 HP. for giving extra rigidity to the steering and that we have got to send the standard fittings for this car before it starts the 10,000 miles test.
