Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives,
Mickleover,
Near Derby, England.

Dear Mr. Hives:

Re Body Subframe

Being coachbuilders ourselves we have got very excited over the body subframe.

Bailey has kept us splendidly up to date on prints of the thing as it comes along, and now tells us that W Series is to have 1" higher and 2-1/4" wider dash, so that apparently you are preparing the scene for the subframe and expect to put it on soon.

I would like to have your personal ideas about how good it is and what it will do. Also about when you will adopt it.

Advantage.
Hulley was very enthusiastic about his ride with you on a car with the experimental subframe, and said it eliminated boom and all mechanical noise.

Do you still consider it such a success?

I am asking this because if it is as good as Hulley says, we must make very great efforts to put it on as quickly as possible.

Adoption.
This will call for the biggest effort of our lives because it means coordinating the chassis and coachworks divisions and the Sales Department to get rid of one type of body (all models) before we bring in the other.
