To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CD. ~~DN.~~ ~~EH.~~ " " EFC. ORIGINAL RE OIL PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE. 20 H.P. ENGINE. E2/C19/9/19. X.3649 We send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1129 shewing the above. The pressure control device consists of an aluminium casting into which a sleeve is forced to form a cylinder, inside the cylinder works a piston which operates the starter clutch of the engine, and which acts as the first relief valve for the high pressure oil. There is a second relief valve by means of which the low pressure oil is obtained for lubricating the camshafts. The writing on the drawing with reference to the afore-mentioned sleeve means that we wish to finish the bore of the sleeve before assembling, and not touch it again. The sleeve after being forced into the aluminium casting the required amount, may close its bore in a little, but allowance should be made for this on the diameter of the bore. Would you kindly instruct the foregoing. We shall in due course send particulars of the manner in which the piston is connected up to the starter clutch.
