(h) Any development of roughness, timing gear rattle, piston knocks, valve gear noise or deterioration of slow running to be noted.

Readjustment of carburettor, ignition setting or other feature to be recorded.

(i) Log books provided for these tests to be completely recorded.

(j) Specification memo. of unit and description of special parts to be given.

(k) At the end of the endurance the unit to be completely dismantled and full inspection and photograph of failures and other interesting features to be taken.

(2) Equipment for running.
(a) Standard air silencer.
(b) Standard exhaust silencer.
(c) Fan complete with guard.
(d) Ethyl petrol.
(e) Motorine C oil unless otherwise stated.
(f) Spark plugs as standard for chassis.

(3) Conditions for running.

Oil.

(a) Inlet oil temperature to bearing to be kept constant at 110°C.

(b) Oil pressure at this temperature not to be less than 25 lbs.sq.in.

(c) Running in prior to endurance to be carried out with test bed pressure filter. Actual endurance to be run under chassis. condition of filtration.

(d) Retain cooler for temperature control.

Water.

Outlet temperature to be kept between 80°C. and 90°.

(4) Readings to be tabulated are
(a) Oil inlet and outlet temperature.
