R.A. 155 (500 H) (SD. 296. 15.3.17) M.P. 176549. X 4333 To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from EPC. c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EFC1/T31.5.22. X.4333 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO - LE CARBONE BRUSHES We have received samples of Le Carbone Brushes together with the various letters from the above Company, the samples being as follows :- 6 type C.G.2 brushes with thick pig-tail conductor, riveted connection, and large bead insulation. 6 type LPC3b Brushes with thick pig-tail conductor, riveted connection and large bead insulation. 6 type Z with thick pig-tail conductor, riveted connection and sleeve insulation. 2 narrow brushes with thin conductor, riveted connection, one with small bead insulation, and one with sleeve insulation. With reference to the queries in their various letters, we think the riveted connection should be an improvement on the previous soldered connection and would therefore like them to supply this type of connection to our order. We prefer the bead insulation to the sleeve every time, but we would like the beads to be not as small as on the narrow sample brush submitted in order that a larger conductors can be used, but on the other hand, we do not wish the conductor and beads to be anything like as large as those submitted on the first two items of special grades. In fact the limit to the outside dia. of the beads we could allow, is .187" and the conductor should be of a size accordingly, both for main brushes and the control brush. We return Messrs. Le Carbone's letters, together with this, having taken the necessary copies. EPC, | ||
