Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.Z/JH.6.7.37.

Lucas type FS.{F. Steele}22/N Headlamp Footswitches for R.R. & Bentley Chassis.

The following are the modifications suggested to Messrs. Lucas for the final production sample of the above switch.

These modifications are the result of our tests and examination of the switch.

The modifications are as follows :-

(1) Stronger contacts to Lucas drawing FNS.1101.
(2) Slightly increased insulation space between the contact plate inserts on the square contact rotor.
(3) Cables to screw on to the terminals on the outside.
(4) Terminal lugs to be vertical and of increased thickness as on the later samples received from you.
(5) Plating of outside parts to be twice as thick as at present.
(6) Metal base plate thickened as on later samples and the tapping of the holes deleted. Holes to be 2BA clearance.

As it is imperative that Messrs. Lucas be given the O.K. for this switch in order that their tools shall be made in parallel with the Headlamp tools we shall be glad if you will give your approval of this switch in its final form as quickly as possible so that we may tell Messrs. Lucas to go ahead.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.
