HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [struck through: BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}] ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} [struck through: E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} )] Copy to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} [struck through: WCR] [struck through: O.{Mr Oldham} PN{Mr Northey}] ORIGINAL SECRET. R2/M9.5.29. SS{S. Smith} - 22-EX. X7430 X7530 X7770 I was very pleased indeed with the above car brought by HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to WW. STEERING. The steering I think can be definitely better if the 1500 lbs. longitudinal springs are changed to 2000 or 2500 lbs. per sq. in. INSTRUMENT FACES. The previous car I drove had black instrument faces. It was a relief to get back to cream. Black are wrong, and should not be used or recommended by RR., because they are difficult to read, and to light, and also many cheap watches have black faces. Both cheap and good ones are now made with white or cream dials. We must get along with our framed instruments with cream faces. Let there be no doubt about this. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
