To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}: c. to Mr. Green. c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} re Layout of Design Office. We have made a scale layout of the design office at the Clan Foundry, in order to settle the position for the Full Size Drawing Board and to improve on the layout by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} if possible. We attach a print of our scheme PL.214. The following points have come to light during our investigation. (1) The full size board can and should be not in the passage between Mr. Green's office and the wall. (2) We should gain nothing by deleting the side tables shewn. They exist, and are essential to the Senior members of the staff dealing with major problems. (3) One of Mr. Green's men will have to be in Mr. Green's office. (4) Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} cannot have another man and board in his office and the typist. We have now 10 designers (excluding Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}) not including G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Bastow and Cantrill. A new man starts after Whitsun (Commercial Vehicle man), making 11 designers in all. Mr. Green has one man (Mr. Greene). That means we are one space short and Mr. Kightley will have to return to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} from whence we took him to assist Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} as a temporary expedient to deal with the Marine project, as soon as the new Commercial Vehicle designer arrives. Should Mr. Green have another man the full size board will have to be pressed into constant use. We are sending a print of PL.214 to EJJ. to shew the position of the Full Size Board. Mr. Green has been shewn the layout. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
