TELEPHONE RIVER 8280 ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA. INC. 707 CITY REALTY BUILDING SPRINGFIELD MASS. Oy3 - G 1620 June 1st, 1920 To: Mr. Hives - 3 without leakage at the joint. Instead of having to crawl about under the car to find and load grease cups, it is only necessary to feel for the lubricator, wipe it with an oily rag to get rid of dirt (otherwise the joint leaks) and click on the junction piece on the hose of the grease-gun. It gets rid of the troubles of screw down grease caps which cannot be got on the thread because they are too full of grease, of stripped threads and of grit getting in with the grease. If after examination and test you think these a real advance on our present fittings, (as I believe them to be) would you bring them to the attention of Mr. Royce with a view to standardizing them on the cars over here. I may add that the dust caps sent are seldom fitted by makers here as it is found they get lost, a perfect seal is made without them, and it takes less time generally to wipe the greaser than to detach the cap. If we needed them, we could probably get better ones made with a bayonet joint fitting. Oy. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley | ||
